Strategic Talent Management - Creating the Right Workforce (Hardcover): Robert J. Greene Strategic Talent Management - Creating the Right Workforce (Hardcover)
Robert J. Greene
R4,143 Discovery Miles 41 430 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Clearly written and providing actionable strategies, this book explores new paradigms for workforce management to enable human resource managers and the organizations where they work to thrive in today's turbulent business environment. Robert Greene goes beyond the many human resource management books currently available, to deal head-on with the new realities of talent management, including such factors as the "gig economy" and globalization. The book focuses on attracting, developing, and effectively utilizing human capital. It begins with human capital planning, and then explores strategies and programs that can attract and retain the workforce an organization needs. A range of sizes and types of organizations and different working relationships are considered, as Greene demonstrates how to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies that fit specific contexts and will sustain the viability of an organization's workforce into the future. Postgraduate students of human resource management, as well as current HR professionals and managers, will find this practical book an indispensable resource. PowerPoint slides and test banks are available to support instructors.

Rewarding Performance - Guiding Principles; Custom Strategies (Paperback, 2nd edition): Robert J. Greene Rewarding Performance - Guiding Principles; Custom Strategies (Paperback, 2nd edition)
Robert J. Greene
R1,964 Discovery Miles 19 640 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Building on evergreen principles, concepts, and strategies of performance and rewards management, the second edition of Rewarding Performance is a clear guide to how strategies must be adjusted to align with new realities, and programs revised to ensure their effectiveness. Appendices dealing with the important and increased reliance on evidence-based management have been added, to provide insights into how evidence can be applied in performance and rewards management. Another major development addressed in the second edition is the rise of the "gig economy," which has challenged organizations to brand themselves as employers of choice. This new edition answers the challenge by considering the impact of this trend on performance and rewards management throughout the book, and expanding the content related to managing non-employees. The second edition also includes a new appendix, providing a fundamental grounding in the use of statistics relevant to performance and rewards management. A chapter on contractors has been added and material on cognitive bias explores why managing people must be understood as different from managing quantitative measures. Updated figures and PowerPoint presentations make the new edition of Rewarding Performance an essential resource for instructors and students of human resource management.

The Fantasy Passport - Sailing on Faith (Paperback): Robert J. Green The Fantasy Passport - Sailing on Faith (Paperback)
Robert J. Green
R441 Discovery Miles 4 410 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

After serving more than twenty years as an organist in his church, the author took to the pulpit as a volunteer lay preacher. As a man of faith and reason, unbound by the usual constraints upon professional clergymen, he speaks his mind freely and openly as he addresses many of the perplexing issues confronting contemporary religion. In the process he proposes some unconventional answers, and makes some surprising revelations. He is not your typical clergyman, and this is not your typical book of sermons. It is a voyage of faith upon uncertain seas with the bright sun of hope lighting the way.

An Outdoor Guide to Bartram's Travels (Paperback): Charles D. Spornick, Alan R. Cattier, Robert J. Greene An Outdoor Guide to Bartram's Travels (Paperback)
Charles D. Spornick, Alan R. Cattier, Robert J. Greene
R1,077 Discovery Miles 10 770 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

From 1773 to 1777, naturalist William Bartram journeyed through the American South from the Carolinas to Florida to the Mississippi River. Bartram's classic account, "Travels," documents what he saw: a world of flora, fauna, cultures, and terrains unknown to most readers of his time--and, we too often assume, lost to us today.

"An Outdoor Guide to Bartram's Travels" reconstructs as closely as possible the original routes Bartram took. Featuring some fifty thoroughly tested and researched tours, the guide takes today's outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs along Bartram's path through what were once colonial towns and outposts, native kingdoms, and unspoiled wilderness. Some tours can be taken by car or bicycle; others can be taken only as Bartram himself would have traveled--on foot, by canoe, or on horseback. The tours are supplemented with more than 140 maps and photographs as well as informative sidebars and listings of nearby points of interest.

As the guide points out details of both the natural and manmade environments to be seen along each tour, it imparts an understanding of the forces at work on the landscape. Visitors to Paynes Prairie in north central Florida, for instance, are urged to notice not only networks of manmade dikes built in the last century but also evidence of current efforts to dismantle them and let the wetlands again manage itself.

At one level, the guide is an invitation into the past, to travel along with Bartram as he visits the lands of the American colonists, the Creek, the Seminole, and the Cherokee--all on the eve of the American Revolution. At another level, it is an invitation to the present: to see how the some parts of the American Southeast have changed in the last two centuries while others have survived in all their wild splendor. From the mountain grandeur of the Blue Ridge to the coastal beauty of Cumberland Island, from the formal gardens of Charleston to the False River plantations near the Mississippi River, the present answers the past in "An Outdoor Guide to Bartram's Travels."
